Easter braid

Preparation

1. We put the sugar and the lemon peel in the glass (only the yellow part). We program 10 seconds, speed 10.

2. We add the milk, yeast and butter. We program 3 minutes, 37º, speed 2.

3. Add the flour, the egg and the limoncello (or other liquor that you have at home). We program 3 minutes, spike speed. 

4. Spread a large bowl with a little butter or oil and add a little flour (very little, only the one that sticks to the base and the sides of the bowl). 

5. We put the dough in that bowl, knead it and form a ball with it (as seen in the video). We leave it in the bowl and cover with film.

6. We let it rise for about 2 hours.

7. When the dough has doubled in volume, we take it out of the bowl and knead it. We divide it into three parts and form a strip with each of those portions. We form a braid and place it on a sheet of greaseproof paper. We cover with a cloth or plastic.

8. We let it rise for about an hour.

9. We remove the cloth or the film. We paint the braid with a little milk.

10. We place the braid on a baking tray, on the baking paper.

11. Bake (preheated oven) at 200º for approximately 30 minutes. After the first 15 minutes of baking we cover the braid with aluminum foil to avoid burning the surface.

12. We let it cool on a rack.

13. If we want it to have a lot of shine we can spread it with a very simple syrup that we can prepare in 2 or 3 minutes.

14. Soak 1/2 sheet of neutral gelatin in cold water.

15. We put two large tablespoons of lemon or orange marmalade in a glass. Also a tablespoon of water. And we put the glass in the microwave, 50 seconds.

16. We take it out of the microwave and mix with a spoon.

17. Drain the gelatin sheet and put it in the glass, together with the rest of the ingredients (the mixture of jam and water) still hot. We mix well.

18. With that mixture that we have just prepared we paint the surface of our braid. Right after we put the chocolate chips or the decoration that we have chosen.
