La moqueca or muqueca is of Brazilian origin. Last week, on our YouTube channel, a friend suggested that we prepare a fish stew and this one seemed perfect to me.

It has hake, prawns, pepper, onion, coconut milk ... the result is a kind of chowder with an exceptional flavor.

La hake it can be substituted for any other white fish. And do not hesitate to use the coconut milk as an ingredient in this preparation. It will surprise you and for the better.

A Brazilian fish stew, with coconut milk and coriander. Delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1 lemon
  • 500 g of white fish (in my case, hake)
  • 250 g of peeled prawns
  • A little bit of salt
  • Ground pepper
  • Some fresh parsley leaves
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 100 g onion, peeled and quartered
  • 1 dried chilli
  • 40 g of extra virgin olive oil
  • 150 g red pepper, cleaned and cut into strips
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • 200 g coconut milk
  • 300 g of water

Preparation

  1. We marinate the fish and prawns with the lemon juice (or lime), a little salt and pepper. We reserve in the fridge for about 1 hour.

  2. We put the parsley in the glass and program 3 seconds, speed 8. We reserve the chopped parsley in a small container.

  3. Now we put the garlic, onion and chilli in the glass. We program 3 seconds, speed 6. We lower with the spatula what has remained on the walls of the glass.

  4. We add the oil and program 5 minutes, 120º, speed 1.

  5. We incorporate the prawns and program 2 minutes, 120º, left turn, spoon speed.

  6. We remove the sautéed prawns and reserve them.

  7. We put the fish in the basket. We put the pepper in strips, the coriander seeds, the water and the coconut milk into the glass. We place the basket in its position. We program 20 minutes, varoma temperature, left turn, speed 1.

  8. We add the cooked fish and the prawns to the rest of the ingredients. Add the chopped parsley and mix well.

  9. We serve immediately.
