This dish is my little daughter's favorite. Whenever you ask her: what do you want for dinner? She answers: “lentils".

The truth is that we all like them a lot and once a week, at the very least, I do them.

Before having the Thermomix I also made them in the pot, but since I make them in this wonderful robot I like them much more. They are made slowly and are perfect, whole. Since at the beginning we peel and mash the vegetables, we only find the lentils and potatoes, that's why the children that they do not like to find the vegetables, they take them perfectly. Making lentils in Thermomix is ​​very comfortable, as easy as adding all the ingredients and programming 45 minutes, 100º, spoon speed, left turn. Of course, the success as always in this type of recipes will be in using very good quality ingredients.

Prepare them without soaking

One of the drawbacks of legume dishes is that we have to think about them a little in advance and planning, since we must have the legume soaked the day before.

However, for lentils we can use the pardina lentil variety, which are the smallest, that we can cook them directly, without soaking. The time will be about 45 or 60 minutes, according to your taste, but they will be al dente and they will be very tasty.

But, if you can, the ideal is to let them soak a couple of hours before, so they will be a little softer.

With pot lentils

And, of course, an express solution of those that we like so much because they save our lives in a matter of minutes. If you want to prepare a quick drink, in 20 minutes we will have some delicious lentilss.

For that, we will use pot lentils, which are already cooked. We drain them and add them to the thermomix glass together with the ingredients that we want to use. Of course, the amount of water must be less than with the traditional preparation, since the cooking time will be less. So just covering them lightly will be more than enough.

Be careful, if we are going to use raw meats, we must use them already cooked previously because with only 20 minutes of cooking they would be raw. I recommend using sausage or smoked bacon already cooked or butcher sausages.

How to prepare a lentil stew

The key ingredients for a good lentil stew are of two types: meats and vegetables.

For meats we can use chorizo, bacon, sausages, ribs or blood sausage. There are also those who use chicken. Be careful if any of them are salted, so that we can remove them beforehand.

And as vegetables we also have infinite possibilities: potato, carrots, turnip greens, chard, spinach, red pepper and green pepper, leek, celery, diced tomato, fried tomato… whatever you like the most!

The making of the classics lentils with chorizo, it does not have any complications. In addition, we are going to use a regular pot, so you can choose an express pot and it will take you much less time in the kitchen. Everyone can freely choose their type of pot!

  • If you have chosen pressure cooker, let it boil. Once this happens, cover and close it keeping it in position 2. Then, you will cook for about 9 minutes, approximately. Remember that before opening the lid again, you have to remove pressure so as not to burn yourself.
  • We can uncover traditional pots whenever we want, although always with care. We stir from time to time until the lentils are perfect. More or less, about half an hour in total.
  • Place some bay leaves, with the fire already off and cover again, letting it rest.

They were a little runny because you didn't add them all.     I put 250 of lentils to soak and about 30 minutes of time. Sometimes I add a fillet in chunks so that the dish serves as a unique dish.
