Brown Rice With Vegetables

Brown Rice With Vegetables

You know the Integral rice? It is husked rice, from which only the inedible outer husk has been removed, it preserves the whole germ with the layer of bran that surrounds it. This means that it has better nutritional properties than white rice: fiber, vitamins and minerals that are lost in the milling of the most commercial rice. Combined with vegetables It is delicious, as it is also tastier than white rice.

I bring you a recipe for brown rice with pumpkin, leek y yellow pepper, healthy and low in calories, to alleviate the Christmas excesses with a plate of vegan cuisine. You can complete the menu with some fruits with cottage cheese cream.

If instead of brown rice we use it normal, what would be the cooking time? Thanks

Hello Irene! In thermomix, program 13 minutes at Varoma temperature and speed 4, with the basket. Check the doneness and if it is still not to your liking, add 2 more minutes. In a saucepan, between 10 and 15 minutes after you add the rice (when the water boils). However, I recommend brown rice for this dish, it combines perfectly with vegetables. A hug!

Hello Ana. The brown rice does not take 20 minutes to cook, at least the one I use, which is also organic, although I don't think this is relevant. I minimum 50-60 minutes and if I do it in a pressure cooker 30 minutes. Could it be done at this time in a thermomix and with what amount of water? Thanks!

Hello Monica. I used brown rice from the supermarket of a regular brand, not organic. As a result of your comment, I have observed in the indications of different brands that the cooking time varies and I have explained it in the recipe. It is easy for the bran layer to be greater in the organic one (less handling and healthier) and that delays cooking. It is also true that at home we like it a bit hard (but done, as you can see in the photo). The amount of water in thermomix would be one liter, but the time is not substantially reduced compared to a normal boil in a pot. If the rice that you use requires so much cooking time, I can recommend if you want to shorten it that you let it soak beforehand (at least one hour, but go testing). A hug!

I did it yesterday, it turned out very good. It is true that brown rice gives it a different flavor. What happens is that the pumpkin disintegrated, come on, it didn't look at all like the photo. Congratulations on your page, I'm a fan.

Hello Maria. I'm very glad you liked it. The thing about the pumpkin is that there are pumpkins that come out softer than others. Mine came out as you see it in the photo. Next time try scooping it out and turning to the left. I'm going to put it like that in the recipe as well so that it doesn't happen to anyone else. Thanks for your comment. You help us to improve by counting your incidents. A hug!

Hello!! So good! 🙂 I cooked the brown rice in the pressure cooker and it takes 15 minutes. I had no pumpkin and as I saw the left turn I put peas! It is perfect! Thanks! : *

Hello Laura. The cooking time for brown rice depends on the type of rice, so it is best to follow the manufacturer's times. But it's worth it, right? I am very happy that you liked. And surely with peas it is good. Thanks to you for telling us. A big kiss!
