We enter the carnival season, a period in which, gastronomically speaking, the protagonists are fried sweets. We, in order not to be left behind in the traditions, are going to prepare some banana bites.

The recipe is ideal if you have very ripe bananas at home and want to sell them. And if you serve them with this chocolate orange hot chocolate… more than one will shed tears of joy. 

Freshly made they are very good. If you have leftovers you will have to keep them in the fridge so they don't spoil.

Ingredients

  • The skin of half a lemon (only the yellow part)
  • 3 bananas (we will peel them and cut them into slices of approximately one centimeter)
  • The juice of half a lemon
  • 50 g whole cane sugar, plus a little more for the top
  • 100g milk
  • 1 egg
  • 5 g baking yeast
  • 135 g of semi-whole flour
  • A pinch of salt
  • Plentiful oil for frying

Preparation

  1. With a knife we ​​take out some strips of lemon peel, we are only interested in the yellow part, not the white. We put the sugar and that skin in the glass. We program 5 seconds, speed 9.

  2. Peel the bananas and chop them. Put them in a bowl and pour the juice of half a lemon over them. Mix and reserve.

  3. In the glass we still have the sugar with the zest. Now add the milk, egg, flour, yeast and salt. We program 30 seconds, speed 4.

  4. We put frying oil in a frying pan (abundant) and put it on the fire. 

  5. Let's pour the dough we have in the glass over the banana slices, in the same bowl.

  6. When the oil is very hot, we are taking banana portions with a spoon. Those portions will be covered by our dough.

  7. Fry until golden. 

  8. It is important that we leave space between the bites during frying. We will have to fry in several batches but this way the oil will always be hot and we will prevent them from sticking to us. 

  9. We sprinkle brown sugar over the bites and we have them, ready to eat.
