Jar salads: a new way to eat salad?

How many times has it happened to you that you have taken a salad in a tupperware to work or to a picnic and when you opened it, the lettuce or tomato were too wet and not very fresh? Well that's because they had been in contact with the dressing too long. Another option was to prepare the salad in a tupperware and, in another container, bring the dressing ... but it did not seem too convincing either because sometimes it played a trick on us because it would come out and get all stained with oil, or we had to carry two containers ( one for the salad and one for the dressing) ...

Well, today I want to talk about a new trend in salads to transport: salty jar o salads in glass jar. It is about placing all the ingredients of our salad inside a large glass jar, but placing them in a logical way and with a specific order to protect the most sensitive ingredients such as lettuce or green leaves and that are not in contact with other wet ingredients, such as the dressing itself.

This would be the perfect order:

  1. Dressing
  2. Hard ingredients or resistant to contact with liquids such as carrots, corn, beets, legumes, pasta, cooked potatoes ...
  3. Medium ingredients such as tuna, olives, onions, smoked fish, bacon, sweet ham, tomato ...
  4. Sensitive ingredients such as hard-boiled egg, cucumber, avocado (smeared with lemon), nuts ...
  5. Very sensitive ingredients such as green leaves, croutons, fried onion, crispy ham, crispy bacon ...

We must leave a comfortable space at the top to be able to shake it. We close our jar well and when we are going to consume it we will only have to shake our jar to mix the food or pour it directly into a salad bowl or plate and ready to eat!

We leave you these photos as an example:

Well, it is ecological, you reuse the cans, it is glass, plastic is always better and it is also beautiful. I like very much. I also use jars in the fridge, with leftover vegetable creams, etc?

Years ago there were some salads in closed plastic cups, and they were very comfortable to dress and stir since you stirred it like a cocktail shaker and it fit perfectly. The dressing all over the salad?
