After more than two years living here it is now when I am discovering the kitchen and the traditions of the area. That's good for me, right? Perhaps because it is less difficult for me to understand Italian, or because now that the little girl has started school I have more time to research and cook.
The fact is that here the carnival is celebrated a lot, even gastronomically, with a lot of fried sweets. I propose these flowers that, in addition to being this cute, are very rich. Doing them you will spend an entertaining afternoon in the kitchen: you will have fun and you will be delighted with the result.
The photos that I put you will help you to prepare them. In the end, a little powdered sugar, strawberry jam in the center, enjoy it!
Carnival flowers
We teach you how to make these beautiful flowers made with very simple ingredients. The photographs will help you understand all the steps to follow.

Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 300 g of pastry flour
- A pinch of salt
- 4 tablespoons of white wine
- 100 butter g
- Jam for garnish
Preparation
We put all the ingredients in the glass and mix during 6 seconds at speed 4. We schedule now 1 minute, closed cup, spike speed to knead the mixture well.
The dough must have a texture that allows us to spread it with a roller so that we have a very thin sheet. We pour the flour that we need both on the work table and on the rolling pin, so that it does not stick to us. We can extend it in parts, so it will be even easier.
With the help of three round pasta cutters, each of a different diameter, we cut three discs.
We make some cuts, specifically eight cuts in each of the circles, on the edge (look at the image that I put below, you can see the pasta cutters and the cuts already made with the knife).
Now we place the circles, one on top of the other, first the largest, then the medium and finally the small. You can see it in the following image:

We take a wooden spoon, the kind with a round stick, and place the end of the stick in the center of the smallest disk. Take a look at the photo below to give you an idea.

The idea is to make and assemble all the discs and then fry all the flowers, one by one.
For frying, we put plenty of oil (I used sunflower oil) in a small saucepan. We prepare three discs of different sizes on the stick, as I told you before, and when the oil is hot, we quickly put them in until they touch the bottom of the pan. We have it supporting a few seconds and in a little while you will notice that if you remove the stick the flower is already formed. At that moment, we take out the stick and leave our flower in the oil for a little longer until it turns golden brown. We take it out and place it on absorbent paper.
So we are doing them all (it is not difficult but it is entertaining ...)
Once fried, we sprinkle our flowers with icing sugar and place a tablespoon or two of jam in the center.
Notes
You can also make half of the dough. To do this, you have to divide the ingredients in half and follow the same steps that I put in the preparation section.
