Baked lettuce

And I thought that lettuce was only for the summer! How could I have lived all these years so deceived? Why didn't anyone tell me that baked lettuce was it a simple, inexpensive and rich recipe?

The recipe itself is very simple as are its ingredients. All we need is a lettuce and something to accompany it either is Serrano ham, York or bacon; the rest of the ingredients are from what we always have at home.

For this recipe you have to prepare a bechamel. So if you want to save time you can make more quantity and you will have it ready for some stuffed zucchini or for the very rich cocois from Irene.

If you prepare it for dinner, it will be a perfect recipe since it is very complete and being hot it will sit very well on the body. And, as I said before, it is very inexpensive and so simple that I hope that Beginners cheer up.

Baked lettuce is an original way to eat vegetables. You can combine it with bacon, ham or serrano ham.

Ingredients

• 200 g iceberg lettuce
• 30 g olive oil
• 50 g of bacon
• 50 g of fried tomato
• 20 butter g
• 20 g flour
• 300 g milk at room temperature
• 15 g of Manchego cheese grated
• Nutmeg
• Salt and pepper

Preparation

1. Put the washed lettuce in the glass. Chop it during 3 seconds at speed 4. Remove and reserve.

2. Without washing the glass, add the oil and the bacon to program 3 minutes, Varoma temperature, spoon speed.

3. After the time, add the lettuce and the fried tomato. Program 2 minutes, 100º and spoon speed. Remove from the glass to a casserole that can be baked and set aside.

4. Preheat the oven grill to 200º.

5. Without washing the glass, put the butter, melt it for 2 minutes, Varoma temperature and speed 2. Add the flour and toast it for 4 minutes, 100º and speed 2. Add the milk and nutmeg to taste, season and program 10 minutes, 100º, speed 4.

6. Cover the lettuce that we had reserved with the bechamel. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top and grill until the surface is golden brown.
