How many times have we been left with the desire to make a delicious cake for not having the yeast? I have to admit that it has happened to me more than once and more than twice. It makes me very angry, especially when it is the weekend or I plan to bring a dessert and I have to improvise another.

It is an ingredient that we have in every house and we do not realize its presence until we are missing. But we will never be without him again because we can make at home conveniently and quickly.

There are few ingredients and both baking soda and cornstarch are easy to find. Perhaps the least known is cream of tartar but as we have seen it is some recipes it is much easier to achieve than we think.

To get our homemade baking powder we just have to mix the ingredients and that's it. Of course, we have to be respectful with quantities to get a good result.

The best of all is that it is easy to use since we will use it as we have done so far, that is, following the instructions of each recipe. If the recipe tells us to add a tablespoon of baking powder, we will take our pot and add a tablespoon. If the recipe calls for 1 sachet of baking powder we will put 15 grams. One trick I use is to put this amount at the bottom of the jar where I keep it. This way I know at all times that I am going to use the correct amount.

    What is the purpose of putting cornstarch? I don't use cornstarch. Instead I substitute it for buckwheat flour. Can I also substitute it in this recipe anyway?
