We continue adding content to the section of basic recipes and tricks with thermomix. Today we will learn to cook rice with our Thermomix, so that it stays at its exact cooking point and that it never happens again. We will only have to program the appropriate time, stir a couple of times and that's it.
It is very useful as a garnish for meat or fish or to make it into a salad, for example.
Basic recipe - cook rice with Thermomix
How to cook rice in the thermomix and make it exactly right, easily and quickly.
TM21 equivalences
Hello. I have a doubt, the rice has been very hard and I have followed the recipe step by step. Couldn't I have done it with round rice and it should have been long?
Can you tell me?
Thank you very much!
Hi Silvia, it often depends on the brand and type of rice. These times are designed for round rice, but it is true that depending on the brand you may need a couple of minutes more. And if you do it with basmati rice, with 12 minutes you usually have enough. I recommend that when the cooking is finished you try it and if necessary put a few more minutes until it is to your liking. You can also let it rest for 5 minutes with the machine closed. Thanks to you for writing us!
Thank you! It's what I did and in the end, perfect !!!!!
I must add very badly because I read a total time of 20 minutes, and I add 4 minutes of oil, 7 minutes of salt and water, plus 15 minutes of rice, a total of 26 minutes ...
If you put some lemon gtas, idea

Good contribution Inma! Thanks for writing to us. 🙂
Hello .. and in tmhx 21 ??
Hello Manu, at the end of the recipe you will find the equivalences for TM 21 🙂
Hello Irene, in our house there are only two of us and many times the amounts you indicate are not necessary and if it were 150grs of rice? sometimes for garnish it is enough
Hello!! You can put the amount of rice you want, but the cooking time must be the same 😉
I was very, very hard, I had to add 10 more minutes
Hello Henar, I have modified the recipe putting 15 minutes of cooking. With that we are left at the right point, al dente. But if you like it more pasty, leave it another 3-5 minutes and it will be the way you like it. A hug.
For 150g of rice, how much water should I put in the glass? Thanks
Hello Blanca, the same amount so that the water reaches the basket. 🙂
OK, thanks a lot. Is that I asked my presenter and she told me that for that amount of rice to make a rule of 3 and of course I did it like that and it was fatal because I saw that the water did not reach the rice well. That is why I came to you. The truth is that I really like your page and thanks to it I use it a little more because I have it for a few years and it is practically new without use. The presenter like this that I have told you could say more, I hardly receive help from her. Thanks for everything.
Well, those things happen ... if you are not happy with your presenter, I recommend that you go to your closest Thermomix delegation and say that you want to be assigned a new presenter. It is a pity that you have the thermomix almost unused, because as you can see in this blog, you can prepare really delicious dishes with it.
Regarding rice, remember that it should always touch the water because otherwise it will not cook well.
I'm glad we managed to solve the little rice problem. And you know where we are for any questions you have 😉
The cooking time is the one indicated by the manufacturer.
Forgive me, but I do not understand the passage from point 3 to 4, I leave the basket empty and we put 7 minutes and then we fill it through the nozzle? Isn't it more practical to do it already in point 3? Or wait for 4 and put the basket with the rice already inside ... forgive my ignorance, thank you
Irene and with brown rice? How much rice and how much water?
Hi Eduardo, put 1500 g of water and 20 minutes, in any case it will depend on the brand so to adjust the time I recommend that you look at the manufacturer's instructions because perhaps 20 minutes is not enough. And tell me! Thanks for writing 🙂
