Sweet potato latte or Sweet potato cafe latte

Maybe in Spanish the sweet potato coffee with milk sounds a bit strange but I would surely tell you that it is a sweet potato cafe latte, you would say «This is a must try!«.

The truth is that I would never think of adding sweet potato to my morning coffee, but after seeing what they can do sweet recipes, I have thought that it is still a good idea especially for it's taste.

I mainly use it for snacks on cold and rainy days. And I don't know if it will be because of the sweet potato or because of the spice mix but it is deliciously comforting.

A delicious coffee for the coldest and rainiest afternoons

Ingredients

• 125 g of vegetable drink (almond, oatmeal or milk)
• 45 g of sweet potato puree (see recipe)
• 10 g agave syrup or maple syrup
• 1 teaspoon (coffee size) ground cinnamon
• 1/4 teaspoon (coffee size) ground ginger
• 1/4 teaspoon (brown size) nutmeg
• 1 teaspoon (coffee size) vanilla paste
• A pinch of ground black pepper
• 100 g of hot black coffee

Preparation

1. We place the vegetable drink with the sweet potato puree in the glass, mix them well during 15 seconds, speed 5.

2. Next, we add the agave syrup, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, vanilla, and black pepper. We heat for 3 minutes, 80º, speed 2.

3. Meanwhile, we prepare a coffee in the coffee maker.

4. When the time is up, we add it to the hot milk. We mix 5 seconds, speed 2.

5. We serve the coffee with sweet potato milk in a large mug and finish it off with a little whipped cream and sprinkled cinnamon.

One of the changes you can make to adapt it to your tastes is to change the type of milk. It goes very well with vegetable milks, especially with those that have a body such as almond or oatmeal. It works a little worse with the rice one but you can also do it with it.

Of course, you can change the vegetable drink for any type of milk with or without lactose, either whole or semi. The same thing happens to skimmed milk as to rice milk. It does not provide enough body but you can make the recipe anyway.

You can make coffee from a machine substitute for soluble coffee. You just have to heat the same amount of water and add 1 tablespoon of soluble coffee. This alternative comes in handy for when you are away from home and there is no coffee maker.

If you like finishes with a lot of foam and with a million things on top, you also have many options. The first thing would be to beat a little cream so that you have a very firm base. Then you can put in addition to the cinnamon, shavings of the chocolate that you like the most, cookie pieces, chopped nuts and even caramel.

The Spiced Milk Mix can be done in advance. You will see that over time the more solid parts settle to the bottom but if you stir or shake it it mixes again.

In this way you would only have to heat the milk in a saucepan or in the microwave and prepare the coffee. Add the finishing touch and ready to serve to all your friends and family.
