dukkah

Dukkah is a mixture of spices, seeds and nuts originating in Egypt that is not easy to find in supermarkets, but that we can make at home quickly, especially if we are lovers of spices.

As with him garam masala or with chai tea, each family has its own recipe. In this case we have chosen to make a dukkah with pistachios and a touch of dried mint that will help us to give a special taste to our dishes.

The dukkah is very versatile and we can give it many different uses. At home we use it, mainly to dress salads and to give our personal touch to the hummus, grilled vegetables or pasta. Although I like it best when it is spread with oil on a slice of hot bread...the toast goes to another level.

The next time I use it it will be to make a roast meat in the oven…. I'll tell you about it!

Good morning Maira I find this mixture great to always have prepared at home, only that I find it difficult to find ground fennel, could you tell me where it is safe? A balance

      Hi!
Well, look, I'm one of those privileged people who do some of their shopping in the Central Market of Valencia. There are several specialized positions and I always find what I am looking for.
You can also try the Corte Inglés.
Anyway I will look at other supermarkets to see if they have it.
      Kisses!!

In the countryside, (and not the supermarket of the same name!).

Fennel grows in large areas of Spain. You can easily collect the seeds in summer and grind them at home.

    Hello,

Thanks for sharing the recipe. As you said there are many ways to do it. For me it is best to use the seeds instead of buying the spice already in powder. Especially fennel since it is found growing wild in many areas of Spain. Cheaper and fresher seeds impossible!

And a suggestion to eat it. I take it many times with Labneh. A fresh cheese that can be made at home without any problem. Toasted bread, spread with labneh and with a little dukka on top, delicious ……

Thank you very much Lincoln for your contribution ... we will have to go out more for a walk and enjoy our fields 😉

By the way, with labneh you have to be addicted !!

      Kisses!
