The other day, my sisters-in-law and I were thinking about easy recipes for them to children could you help us. At first we thought only of cookies y chocolates But then it occurred to us that if we prepared the sponge cake in advance, they could make these grape and chocolate sweets without any problem.

And speaking of prepare in advance Did you know that cakes can be frozen? I use this system quite a bit. When I turn on the oven I prepare several things and thus, in addition to saving energy, I make better use of my time. Then, with the cake still hot, I wrap it well with plastic wrap and put it in the freezer! When I need it, I take it out the day before and let it defrost slowly… and ready to use.

Another trick to make this recipe: you can use canned grapes that are already prepared for End of Year, especially if you see that time is pressing and that peeling the grapes is going to give you a lot of work.

Grape and chocolate sweets

Ingredients

  • Whole eggs 2
  • 50 g of sugar for the cake
  • 50 g flour
  • 10 g cocoa powder
  • 24 grape grains
  • 1 glass of sweet wine (Jerez, Pedro Ximénez, Mistela ...)
  • 150 g of covered chocolate
  • 50 g of water
  • 50 butter g
  • edible glitter

Preparation

  1. We peel the grapes and put them in a bowl with the sweet wine. Let it marinate for 30 minutes.

  2. We preheat the oven to 180º only with heat up and down. No turbo and no fan.

  3. We place the butterfly on the blade, add the eggs with the sugar. We program 4 minutes at 37º and speed 3.

  4. After the time has elapsed we beat again but without temperature, programming 5 minutes, at speed 3.

  5. Meanwhile, we grease a rectangular mold measuring 38 cm x 25 cm with greaseproof paper lightly covered with butter.

  6. We mix the flour with the cocoa and sift it.

  7. When the time has elapsed, add the flour mixture, beat for 4 seconds at speed 3.

  8. We pour the mixture into the prepared mold. We move the tray gently so that the dough is distributed well, so it is easier to level the surface.

  9. We bake in the medium height of the oven between 6 and 8 minutes at 180º.

  10. When the cake is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest in the mold for about 5 minutes.

    Then we unmold and let it cool completely on a wire rack.

  11. With a 5 cm diameter cookie cutter we cut 6 sponge cake discs.

  12. We put the chocolate in the glass, we grate it during 20 seconds at progressive speed 5-8.

    We add the water and program 4 minutes at 37º and speed 2.

  13. After the time has elapsed, we add the butter and re-program 4 minutes, 37º, speed 2.

  14. While we drain the grapes and with the juice we moisten the sponge discs.

    We place 4 grains on each disk and bathe them completely with the melted chocolate.

    We let it rest in the refrigerator until serving time.

Notes

  • To make this dessert suitable for children, you just have to change the sweet wine for apple juice.
  • If you want to give it a personal and festive touch, place them in a nice fountain with some Christmas detail or sprinkle a little edible glitter on top.

      Hi Marisa:

      the air in the oven speeds up cooking. It gives me the feeling that it cooks too quickly and does not have time to take shape, which makes it, as you say, much more compact.

      These cupcakes are all the rage in my house!
