Trick (improved): how to cut the ingredients of a Russian salad in less than 1 minute

Yes, you read correctly: in less than 1 minute you will have ready and well cut the basic ingredients of a Russian salad, like potatoes, boiled egg and carrot. Do you want to know how? Do not miss it!!

Some time ago we published a trick to have all the ingredients of the salad cut in less than 15 seconds. We have some readers who have tried it and found it a great trick, but we have others who have been convinced by the result. So we have started to study how to improve this trick. So let's see what you think of this one today.

The trick for a good Russian salad is that we cook the potatoes and carrots as whole as possible. That is, the result is better if you cook them large than in tiny pieces. In fact, the way I like to prepare the salad is the traditional way: I take a large pot, add salted water and cook the washed whole potatoes and carrots with the skin.

Then I cook the eggs in the thermomix, following this recipe because they are perfect. And finally, chop the potatoes and carrots in the thermomix following the trick that we present today because it is super useful and avoids a great task. Of course, it will not be as perfect and exact as cutting each ingredient with a knife, but I guarantee that the result is more than acceptable.

Now you will have to choose yourselves based on your time and how you like the salad, if more or less minced.

How to cut the basic ingredients of a salad in less than 1 minute

  • 3 large potatoes, peeled and cooked
  • 2 large carrots, peeled and cooked
  • 2 peeled boiled eggs

On this occasion, we will chop the ingredients separately. So prepare a large bowl or source to pour them.

  1. We put the cooked eggs peeled and whole. We shred 4 seconds, speed 4. We withdraw to the source.
  2. We cut the carrots in half and crush 3 seconds, speed 4. We check that it is to our liking and we withdraw.
  3. We cut the potatoes in half and mash 3 seconds, speed 4, left turn. Remove with the help of the spatula and very carefully so that the large pieces and small pieces change their position. We repeat 3 seconds, speed 4, left turn. We check that it is to our liking and we withdraw.

Voilà !!!!! As if by magic we have everything perfectly chopped ready to mix with tuna, mayonnaise, pickles, bell peppers ... whatever you like the most!

    Product will stick to the base of the glass, because I don't know if the same thing happens to you, but I lose product on the base, there is no way to remove it with the spatula.

      Hello Maite, the product does not stick to the base because for this we have to stir it halfway so that everything is crushed equally. Maybe your potatoes were overcooked ... because we have more than tried this trick and it really works. Try it again by stirring halfway through! 🙂
