Orange cake with honey and orange syrup

This is, without a doubt, one of the best cakes you can prepare: Super juicy orange cake with honey and orange syrup. With the thermomix you are going to prepare it in the blink of an eye, and I assure you that it is tremendously delicious. I do it a lot when I have to give something away and also when I want to spend oranges or tangerines that I have at home. A homemade cake is something incredible! For breakfast or a snack for children and adults it is a fabulous option. Do not miss it!

First we will make the dough with the Thermomix in which we will crush the whole orange, that is why it will have that spectacular flavor. It is It is important that you use an orange that has a thin skin. Then we will put our dough in an oven mold (a bundtcake, plumcake, round or rectangular type is worth it). With these portions that I give you, you will get a beautiful cake for about 8 people. So if you don't want something so big, you just have to reduce the amounts by half.

El oven time will depend above all on the type of mold that you use With the quantities that I give you here, for 8 people, and a tall mold like in the photo or plumcake type, we will need about 45 minutes. However, if you choose to make it more of a sponge cake type, and you have a longer sponge cake with less height, it will take less time to cook, so with 25-35 minutes you will have it ready. The rule is the higher the oven, the longer the oven.

A homemade cake with an explosion of orange flavor that will surprise you. It is perfect as a gift, and, of course, for breakfast or snack... small... and big!

Ingredients

Orange sponge cake

• 220 g of sugar
• 1 thin-skinned orange juice (not peeled or cut)
• 3 eggs
• 50 g of margarine
• 50 g light olive or sunflower oil
• 1 plain unsweetened yogurt
• 250 g of wheat flour
• 1 sachet of chemical yeast (Royal type yeast) or 15 g
• 1 pinch of salt

Honey and orange syrup coverage

• the juice of 1 orange
• 1 tablespoon of honey

Preparation

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease a mold with oil and lightly sprinkle with flour. We booked.

2. Put the sugar in the glass, the orange cut into quarters directly with the skin and the eggs. we shred 3 minutes, 37 ° C, speed 6.

3. Add the oil, margarine and yogurt and mix 5 seconds, speed 4.

    

4. Add the flour, yeast and salt. we mix 15 seconds, speed 3. If it has not been well integrated, we can finish stirring with the spatula.

    

5. Pour the mixture into the mold. Bake for approximately 40-45 minutes (180ºC).

   Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then unmold.

6. Honey and orange syrup coverage

   This is a totally optional step but one that, for my taste, really makes a difference. It gives it an extra juiciness and flavor that make it a cake of 10.

7. Put the orange juice in a glass and heat it for 30 seconds in the microwave. Add the tablespoon of honey and stir well.

8. Prick the surface of the cake with a fork, being very careful not to lift the crumb. Now we just have to brush the surface and sides with that honey and orange syrup that we had reserved.
