This is one of the most typical recipes of Halloween, and I am not surprised, because it is very simple and it is delicious. Kids love it! And it is so easy, that we only need to prepare a shortcrust pastry dough (which we can substitute for puff pastry) and wrap some sausages as if they were the bandages of a mummy. Then we will make the eyes and that's it. It's that easy and that fast!

Terrifying sausage mummies, made with shortcrust pastry or puff pastry. Ideal for Halloween and for children.

Ingredients

  • 8 frankfurters (thin)
  • 16 black sesame seeds for the eyes (you can also put pieces of black olive)

For the shortcrust pastry:

  • 200 grams of flour
  • 100 grams of butter (chopped and fresh out of the fridge)
  • 1 egg
  • a pinch of salt
  • a pinch of sugar

Preparation

  1. We put all the ingredients of the dough in the glass according to the order indicated and we program 15 seconds, speed 4.

  2. We remove the dough from the glass, form a ball and wrap it with plastic wrap. We put in the fridge for 1 hour.

  3. We preheat the oven at 180º.

  4. On a floured surface, we spread the dough with the help of a rolling pin so that we have a finite rectangle (half an arm's length, measured from the tips of the fingers to the elbow). We cut thin strips, the width of the little finger.

  5. We wrap the sausages as if they were mummy bandages, leaving a hole for the face. We will put the eyes on you once batches.

  6. We bake some 12-15 minutes at 180º, or until the dough is a little golden.

  7. We put eyes on the mummies. And ready to eat!

Notes

You can change the shortcrust pastry or puff pastry for the plates that are already sold in the refrigerated or frozen section of supermarkets. They can be served with ketchup or mayonnaise.
