Torrijas in varoma

Thermomix Torrijas Recipe in Varoma

Today I have prepared torrijas en varoma. They are delicious and also have less fat and feel better than traditional ones.

Do not fry, thus, they are fat-free and suitable for people who need to control their cholesterol. In addition, when steamed they feel very good.

And so that you do not miss any detail, we also leave you the video recipe:

And if we want them to be able to consume them Diabetic you just have to substitute sugar for sweetener. I know of one (my grandmother) that this year she will be able to take them without risk. Just to see the face that makes, it is worth doing them.

And of course those of us who are on a diet or we like to take care of ourselves we can make them with whole wheat bread, skim milk, and sweetener. And so enjoy one of the most typical Easter sweets.

Just thinking about him smell so rich Warm bread, sugar and cinnamon makes my mouth water.

    Hello girls:
I have seen your blog and it seems to me that you have hit the nail on the head.
As I have a sweet tooth, I really love the cake section.
Silvia's strawberry one, a marvel, they also made at home and how delicious.
And to you Elena, I congratulate you on the coffee that I suppose will be delicious. If I can't get my wife to get it out, I'll get in touch with you to make me one.
Much encouragement that you will not be short of those who are interested in your recipes.
    regards

My mother made them like that last year and I don't want to eat them any other way anymore. In this post you do not tell us anything about your girls Silvia, but I think it is a very good idea to give them sweets as healthy as the ones you propose here.

    Thank you very much Andoni!

Susi, how about the French toast? I imagine they looked great on you and your mom would like them for sure. I made them again for my grandmother who is diabetic and she loved them without fat and with sweetener, so she can try them.
      It said: »What a luxury of torrijas, what a luxury» ...

Hello Silvia, first of all I would like to congratulate Elena and you for the blog, it is incredible! Both the recipes and their presentation on the site are of great quality and you can smell a lot of love, work and dedication, congratulations! Now we go to my office, my in-laws are diabetic and my husband and I ( especially me, after the baby) we are on a diet, but this Christmas we wanted to eat something sweet without weighing our conscience too much, therefore, if you could share some tricks with me such as, in what proportion is sugar replaced by sweetener granulated? Can I always substitute the flour for the whole wheat? Many thanks.

    1.    Silvia said

Rejane, my grandmother is also diabetic and she tried to adapt the occasional dessert to her. In fact, in the index there is a recipe called unsweetened apple pie, everyone who tries it again makes another. Because it is very good and it does not seem that it does not have sugar. The proportion of sugar with granulated sweetener is usually half, because granulated sweetener sweetens a lot, even if you want you can add a little less. I usually use measure that sweetens a lot and I use it often for myself too, especially for juices, smoothies, sorbets, ice creams and jams. The proportion of whole wheat flour would be the same. Try and tell us.
      All the best

      1.    rejane said

Silvia, what is that of measure? Where do I buy it? Thanks

        1.    Silvia said

Measure is a brand of granulated sweetener, it sweetens a lot and I usually buy it at Carrefour or at hipercor.
          All the best

          1.    rejane said

Silvia I have prepared the Apple Pie without Sugar, a success! A delight and everyone's jaws dropped because it didn't look like it was made with sweetener. The only thing is that I didn't do it with Measure, because I didn't have it. In fact, I bought it yesterday afternoon at Carrefour, but since I'm going to repeat the cake, I'll do it with this sweetener to see how it turns out. Thank you very much for your wonderful recipes, I am already a fan of your blog. Can I find you on facebook? A kiss for both.

Elena, I have not made that recipe but maybe this one can be useful for you, you would only have to add the cod. I leave you the link.

First of all I would like to congratulate you on this blog, it has helped me a lot at Christmas cooking for so many. And secondly, by introducing recipes that diabetics can eat. I'll try to make the torrijas to see if they come out as good as the apple pie, which was a success for my whole family. Thank you very much and I hope you continue to help us so much.

    1.    Silvia said

Maika, I have tried to make torrijas with sweetener for my grandmother who is also diabetic and they come out great. You will tell me.

Hello! I have prepared two bags of torrijas del pan del mercadona and they could not have been richer, but I would like to know with what other bread I can make them since when the Easter season passes they no longer sell the bread and I do not know with which other to make them. I love your blog, and I vote for you every day. Thank you always for everything and for always answering us.

    1.    Silvia said

When the torrijas season passes, try to order the loaf of bread in the bakeries of all your life, sometimes they can make it and if you do not have any fairly wide loaf, you let it harden overnight and you make it yourself. slices.

  11.   Paloma said

    Hello
I have a little problem, my oven "only" heats up to 190 °.
    Is not sufficient???

    Paloma
nb: I have a loaf of bread from before last night waiting to be turned into French toast!

    1.    Silvia said

Nothing happens because the temperature of your oven does not rise more, you will need to leave them a little longer and you will have them just as rich.

  12.   Alice said

I want to make these French toast for my father-in-law who can't take sugar, how much powdered sweetener do I have to put in if it's 8 tablespoons of sweetener sugar, is it 4? and another question what is the special torrijas bread and where do you buy a greeting

    1.    Silvia said

Try 4 tablespoons, because it sweetens more than sugar, and torrijas bread is usually sold around the dates of Easter in bakeries and supermarkets, it is a fairly wide bar and the slices are marked to cut them more easily.

  13.   carmen said

You could help me; the slices are put all together in the varoma or they are put in batches. Regards, and thank you very much.

    1.    Silvia said

Carmen I usually get all of them, placing them close together between the two trays of the varoma.

  14.   George said

I made the torrijas (very from this date and more in Malaga, and they came out delicious and liked a lot. Now, like you, according to the photo they came out very golden. Mine came out almost white.
There is explanation, I would love to receive the comment on it.

    Thank you

    1.    Silvia said

Jorge, the browning depends a bit on each oven, if you see that with about 5 minutes they are very pale, put it about 10 minutes or until they take the tone that you like. In my mother's oven they need 10 to 15 minutes to get good color.

  15.   María said

Hello!!! Here I am still hooked !!! The last recipe for the Ferrero cake has to be a heart attack !!!
I wanted to ask about the parchment paper, I don't know what it is, is that the one they use to wrap meat in the butcher shop? he he
Could you put the torrijas in the oven in aluminum disposable trays and cover them with aluminum foil?
I want to do them tomorrow and I won't be able to get the parchment paper
    All the best!!!! And thanks!!!

    1.    Silvia said

The greaseproof paper is the oven paper, or if you have a silicone sheet to cover the oven trays, it is also worth it. Use the paper with which you cover your baking trays and if not put it in an aluminum one as you say, but you will not cover them that have to be browned.

  16.   Maria said

Ah, another question, the bread that they sell in special torrijas market says that it can be put directly into the milk, so, you don't need the steps before dipping them in the milk or would you still do the steps? Greetings and a thousand thanks

  17.   Silvia said

Maria, I have ever made it with that bread and I follow the steps anyway from the beginning. Make the recipe exactly as it is written.

  18.   George said

SO I WILL AND SO I WILL TELL YOU

    THANKS, AGAIN

    1.    Silvia said

    HELLO SILVIA!!
I made the torrijas again and they actually came out golden brown. They continue to like them very much, but when teaching how to do it, apart from the fact that I advertised your blog, they asked me why, keep them at a male temperature for so long, if they go to the oven later. Is there an explanation for it?
Thank you and we will continue to enjoy

    1.    Silvia said

We are actually steaming them, without any fat, in their juice and it takes that long to cook. The oven just gives it a little color.

  22.   gem said

Why is the water coming out of the varoma?

    1.    Silvia said

Perhaps you have covered all the gaps and the steam cannot find a place to escape. Put some forks inside and the torrijas on top, so there is some gap underneath for the steam to come out.

  23.   MARIA JESUS said

First of all tell you that thanks for all the ideas and guidelines that you contribute, I always consult you and I am delighted, I make many recipes and they are great.
This particular recipe did not turn out what I expected, I love torrijas, in winter when I have some bread left I often make torrijas, in my land they are usually made in carnivals, they are almost the same as your recipe, instead of varoma We fry them, and we don't put cinnamon and sugar, we put honey. I made them but with honey as I like them, they seem like a good option for regimes, they leave something to be desired as they are not fried they seem like soft bread with honey, sorry.
But I keep saying thank you

  24.   Ma Montserrat Martinez i Camps said

Hello, thanks for the recipe, they look very good, so I want to make them these days, but I don't know where I can find the torrijas bread, can you guide me? 🙂

    1.    Irene Thermorecetas said

Hello Montserrat, on these dates you can find that bread in any bakery or shopping center. This year I have made them for the first time with a special bread for torrijas that they sell in Mercadona and, in addition to being one of the cheapest (just over € 1) they have turned out fabulous. Lucky!

  25.   patri said

Uffff! !! What does it look like, you are in Easter for sure. In my house they have always been made with broth (or milk or white wine), and I would like to adapt that recipe to my thermomix, so I am thinking that in the step of pouring water I will add the ingredients that my mother uses to the broth: milk, honey, anise beans, a chorlito of anise, sugar and the zest of a lemon. I'll tell you why it's making my mouth water thinking about it !!

    1.    Ascen Jimenez said

Well, it does look great. From what you say, the idea is to replace the water used to cook varoma with that broth with which you are going to serve the torrijas later, right? If you dare, send us your recipe and this Easter we will publish the «Torrijas de Patri» 😉
      A hug!
