Tangerine jam

Thermomix Recipe Mandarin Jam

This time it was the turn of the tangerine. It is one of my oldest daughter's favorite fruits, along with peaches and melons. Although she is not very fond of jams, she leaves that to her sister, who is the one who asks for different flavors of jams to accompany her toast on weekends.

I looked at my pantry and we were already having a few jars left and I commented that I should make a new one. They immediately suggested to me: "Why don't you make a mandarin orange one?"

The previous season had done Orange marmalade y we loved it. So I thought this would have the same success being the tangerine so sweet.

I have prepared it with sugar, although I always put a little less quantity especially when I choose sweet fruits. If you want it and, too with 50 g of powdered sweetener you will be fine.

It is time to take advantage of this fruit. I have already prepared others jars to give away and I have frozen enough segments, to delight this Christmas with mandarin sorbets. They are ideal!

Tomorrow when I buy mandarins I'm going to make it, look where yesterday looking for a recipe for mandarin marmalade I found one and did not say anything that had to remove the white part of the skin, it has come out very sour, also I had to add some sprigs of mint as you can not find I put some sprigs of peppermint that I like a lot, I made it yesterday and it has come out very sour, I'm going to try with yours that I'm sure it comes out very well I like the ingredients and I'm going to dare to throw the sprig of mint, I'll tell you.
Thanks for all your recipes, since I got to know this blog I do many things with my thermo.

I have made this recipe with almost all fruits. The apple one is spectacular, the pear one, I have even made it from lemon, which if you like strong is also very good, but the one the family asks me the most is the red grapefruit, and the big red pepper, try them, they are very good.
Thank you very much for your blog, I am an unconditional fan 😉 ;-)) ;-)))

Try to make the onion one, it is very good and the tomato one. I take the opportunity to make the tomato one when they are cheap.

How good, I just have a bag of tangerines in the fridge, which the girls don't want because they are a bit acidic, I already know how to use them, thanks.

Hello, it looks good ... since I go to the market I will buy mandarins to make them. I love jams and thanks to this blog we have become addicted to them. Today I made it out of plums and I still have them upside down, but I'm looking forward to trying it, with cheese for example ... ummmm!
I will not tire of thanking you because since I have the thermomix and follow your recipes I have a vice: preparing healthy, simple and very tasty food. A big kiss

Hello, that of putting at speed 1 without beaker and placing the basket on its 4 legs ???? I do not quite understand it. Thanks.

    1.    Virtues said

Hello Raquel, when you close the lid do not put the cup, and so that it does not splash we put the basket, the base on the lid of the thermomix. It is usually done so that what we are cooking does not take a lot of water.

True, I followed your instructions on the orange memelada from a few days ago and did the "mandarin oranges" and, indeed, they came out "but how wuay".
Silvia, how you could make a bitter orange lick. I have tried it with the "puppy" oranges (Those that tend to be in the trees of the city) and they do not come out. Do you know any recipes about them?
    Thank you

Hello, I would like to make the recipe because the truth is that I have never made a jam and I really want to make a jam and the truth is that I love tangerines but I'm scared because of the issue that I don't know how I can pack it and how I have to clean the jar where I am going to put it I would like you to tell me, thank you for everything

    1.    Virtues said

Hello Loida, it is a better sweetener, and in the packaging, the equivalences are specified, which vary from the manufacturer.

The other day I made the mandarin marmalade, and since it released a lot of juice I added it, perhaps too long and it has become very thick, can it be fixed? I have made a lot of jams but this had not happened to me, yesterday I made yellow pepper and very good.

    1.    Silvia said

Mar, if it can be fixed, put it back in the glass and add water, leave it again for at least 5 minutes, varoma, speed 2 and it will surely turn out well.
I have ever arranged so that that has happened to me.

      All the best

      1.    Mar said

Thank you very much Silvia. In the afternoon I try it, yesterday I made yellow peppers and it was great.

Hello, I have never made the mandarin jam, I will try this week. I use your page a lot, thank you! the recipes are easy and "daily." One question, do you know if it is true that, if you put the bottle upside down, it remains closed in a vacuum as if you were doing it in a water bath?

    1.    Virtues said

Hello Carmen, I have also heard that, that if you put the hot content in the pot, close it and put it upside down, it remains empty, but the truth is, I have never done it and I do not trust either. the bain-marie ...

  13.   carmen said

Hello, I have read about how to preserve the jam, about putting it in the jars upside down or in the water bath, I will tell you how I do it, I put it in glass jars, (from other jams, or from something I have bought and I put the cans away), I close them tightly, (be careful because it burns the pot, I do it with a kitchen cloth so as not to burn myself), and when they are tightly closed, I put them upside down, when they are cold I put them in the fridge (already face up, it is understood) and so I assure you that it lasts a long time in the fridge, now yes, when you open them (it will be hard to open), you have to take it soon because it can get bad, although 3 weeks I think it lasts perfectly in the fridge. Greetings to all.

The jams with the thermomix are always very good, I have not bought them for years, I also make them with strawberries and at first they came out very liquid now made a small neutral gelatin envelope and it is perfect.

Hellooooo !!! What a good thing it has come out for me !!! Thank you very much, although my partner does not like jams with a slightly sour taste (orange, lemon), I have given it to my father and he is eating it whole !!! kisses

Hello! The jams are all very good, the one with peppers, orange, pear, apple, cherry, etc ……

Thanks Mariter! Indeed, with the thermomix they come out exquisite. Thank you for following us and for writing to us. All the best.

One of the ways to thicken jams is by adding pectin. The skin of the apple has a large amount of pectin, from where it is normally extracted. I buy powdered pectin that they sell already prepared.

    Hello
I really like your website and I have tried many recipes that came out perfect.
I just want to know please if this jam has a bitter taste? like orange marmalade? or sweet?
because the truth is I don't like jams with a bitter touch

    Thank you

    1.    Ascen Jimenez said

      Hi Mounia,
If you do not want the jam to become bitter, do not put the skin on it. In this case, the recipe you are referring to is from an old colleague and I have not tried it. But a few weeks ago I posted this other tangerine jam http://www.thermorecetas.com/mermelada-de-mandarina-y-cardamomo/ that it does not have skin and that I guarantee you that it is not bitter.
You can do either of the two taking that into account, put the peeled tangerines.
      A hug!

      1.    mounia said

        many thanks

        I'll try it for sure

  19.   Sabina said

Hellooo!!!! I have been reading that they do not trust much about closing the vacuum boats. I've tried it and it works. Put the jam hot and fill the jar well, close it well and turn it upside down until it cools.
It also holds the jam a lot like that.
Another little thing that can help you: the jars can be sterilized in the varoma while the jam is being made. Greetings!

    1.    Irene Arcas said

Thanks for telling us your little tricks Sabina! 😉

I made it as Silvia said and the tangerines have a lot of juice and I had to boil it several times until it was thick, but very good and the persimmon? Have you tried it? This is so good, bye.
