Nelba style rice (without egg)

This Nelba-style rice does not have an egg and the best of all is that we have added more vegetables to enjoy a loose and tasty rice at home or at work.

I don't know why her name is Nelba, all I know is that it is a recipe that you like a lot. So I have decided to make a few changes to have more options when it comes to prepare our weekly menu.

The recipe is very simple, so, if you are beginners or have just new your Thermomix®, this recipe is ideal for you because it is simple, fast and rich.

Do you want to know more about this Nelba-style rice?

The first thing I have done is skip the egg step. The most purists can tell me that it is a sacrilege but I think the recipe is well balanced and it is also suitable for allergy sufferers.

Another of the substantial changes is in add more vegetables. The original recipe only uses onion and carrot, so I have not hesitated to give it a little more color by adding beans, peas and corn.

Speaking of vegetables, for this recipe you can use beans and peas fresh or frozen. The cooking time and the result will be the same.

El corn I have also used it frozen but you can substitute canned sweet corn. In this case, it is not necessary to cook it. Add it last and mix it with the rest of the ingredients.

I like this recipe because it is made from start to finish in Thermomix®. It is not even necessary to use the microwave since we are going to prepare the bacon so that it is well browned.

The recipe is made in just over 30 minutes although it must be taken into account that we can take advantage of the 20 minutes of cooking the rice to carry out other tasks.

This recipe can be keep in the fridge up to 4 days. As always, my recommendation is that the container be adjusted as much as possible so that there is no air. It is also important to respect the cold chain and not go around taking the container out of the fridge and putting it in.

As well can be frozen, lasts up to 3 months. So it's super convenient to make extra portions to freeze, then just take it out the day before and let it thaw in the fridge. When you get home you will have it ready to heat and eat.

Do not hesitate to take this Nelba style rice wherever you want, either to work, to the beach or even on an excursion. Easy to make and transport!

      Hello Cris:
You can use any type of long grain rice. I have used basmati but you can also use jasmine. Irene has published several recipes with this type of rice and it also gives a fantastic result.
Short grain rices tend to become more caked and not as loose. It is not that it cannot be done, nor that it cannot be eaten but they have other qualities.

You can use bacon in cubes but you will have to chop them too to make them smaller.

      Regards!
