Pear and apple sugar-free jam

On many occasions you have suggested that we do more diabetic recipes and, after a long time, here is one of my first tests. It is a sugar-free pear and apple jam.

The diabetic diet is not as simple as substituting one ingredient for another. From what I have read it is based on the glycemic index (GI) of food. That is, a system to measure or quantify the glycemic response of a food that contains the same amount of carbohydrates as a reference food. The fact is that this pear and apple sugar-free jam has a low GI which is perfect not only for diabetics also for those who are on a diet.

As it does not contain sugar, it cannot be kept out of the fridge, even if it was vacuum packed, because it does not contain any preservatives and it would quickly go bad. So the best is keep it in the fridge and consume it little by little.

A dessert spoon of this unsweetened pear and apple jam he's only 16 Calories. So we can use to add to yogurts, curds or take it alone as if it were a compote. Although for me it is best to take it in the morning on a slice of toast ... delicious!
