Do you want to know more about this vegan and sugar-free chocolate flan?

This recipe has many good things, especially its simplicity and its flavor.

You can use the vegetable milk that you like the most. Above all, I recommend that you do not have too much added sugar to follow the philosophy of the recipe a bit.

I like to use the almond milk because it is More dense than, for example, rice. Although with this milk you can also make the recipe.

Surely you already know the power of agar agar. That is why it is used to make jellies and, in this recipe, it will be great to make it with a firm and creamy texture simultaneously.

We have put date paste for sweeten the recipe and not having to use refined sugar. I don't know what it will look like with liquid sweeteners like agave syrup because I haven't tried it. What I can say is that the date paste helps you have more body.

When tasting this flan, one basic and fundamental thing must be taken into account: not a traditional chocolate flan. So forget about comparisons because it doesn't make any sense.

This vegan and sugar-free chocolate flan has a firm but smooth texture and, best of all, it has a very authentic flavor. It is not masked by other flavors so the chocolate lovers they are going to put on their boots.

They keep up to 1 week provided they are tightly closed in the fridge. And, when serving, you can unmold them or serve them in their own jars.

Good afternoon, is it important to use the Agar?
    I don't use any sweeteners.
Can you make the flan without Agar?
    Thank you very much.

      Hi carmen:
Agar is not a sweetener it is a thickener or gelling agent.
And yes, it is important because without the agar the puddings will not curdle.
I leave you a link where you can learn about this product and its uses:

I just made your date paste recipe but I don't have agar potholders, can I substitute gelatin powder, cornstarch or something similar?

      Hello Eva:
Yes, as we already mentioned in this article, agar can be substituted for gelatin.
For this recipe you will need about 13 g of powdered gelatin or 9 sheets.
      Regards!
